Expert Teleconference: Cloud Computing Security -- Will You Be Left Holding the Bag?
Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 4:00 PM EST

It seems that everyone is talking about cloud computing as the next big thing. It promises delivery of IT services more flexibly, and at lower cost, than ever before. Security is never easy, but when data is no longer stored on private servers, and is accessed over the public Internet, the potential for serious problems is magnified.
Using a case study of a company which had serious issues with their cloud implementation, to highlight some of the issues that need to be addressed if you plan to move your business and data to a cloud infrastructure, TAC Thought Leader Beth Cohen will explore the many factors that need to be taken into consideration.

Cloud computing security concerns can be divided into three major categories: business, regulatory and technical. Hot issues that will be addressed during this teleconference include:
  • Who is responsible for ensuring information lifecycle management (ILM), data integrity and availability?
  • How does the difficulty of establishing end-to-end data validation on the cloud affect regulatory risk?
  • What are some of the risks due to complex vendor relationships?
  • What tips can improve cloud computing security implementations and data management?
Beth Cohen, TAC Thought Leader, has more than 20 years of experience building strong IT-delivery organizations from user and vendor perspectives. Having worked as a technologist for BBN, the company that literally invented the Internet, she not only understands where technology is today but where it’s heading in the future. Her specific expertise includes building scalable, robust IT architectures, operating systems, desktop support, process improvement, program management, IT/business alignment, security, and integration of networks, applications, and systems.
